Emergency Light Testing

What is emergency light testing?

 Regular inspection and testing of emergency lighting is a statutory obligation of building owners and employers under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 as well as a range of health and safety regulations applying to duty holders. 

Do I need an emergency light test?

 The duty of building owners and employers to provide effective emergency lighting systems is governed by a range of legislation including the Health and Safety at WorkAct 1974 and specifically the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO). 

Is emergency light testing a legal requirement?

Duty holders have a legal obligation to ensure that their emergency lighting system is maintained in accordance with BS 5266-1:2016 (Code of Practice for the Emergency Lighting of Premises).
